Manage Notification Settings

The PACFile Dashboard provides access to various notification categories that announce actions related to your PACFilings, proxies, or filings by others on your cases. Regardless of the notification type, any time an action is completed that triggers a notification, it automatically appears through your Dashboard and a corresponding e-mail is sent to the address associated to your UJS Web Portal account.

The Settings icon Settings icon on your Dashboard provides the ability to regulate the e-mails you receive when a notification is generated.

In the User Settings screen, all of the potential notification types are listed and you have the option to specify one of four possible frequency settings through the corresponding E-Mail Delivery Frequency dropdown:

  • Immediately – Any notification type set to this frequency ensures that an e-mail is sent to you after a corresponding action occurs and at the same time as the Dashboard notification.

  • Daily – Any notification type set to this frequency triggers a single daily e-mail, sent on weekdays at 8am, which contains the details of all applicable notices that were generated since the previous weekday morning.

  • Weekly – Any notification type set to this frequency triggers a single weekly e-mail, sent on Mondays at 8am, which contains all applicable notices that were generated over the previous week.

  • Never – No e-mail notification is ever sent for the corresponding notification type.

Note: Dashboard notifications are not affected by these settings.

The following table describes each of the available notification types. By default, all notification types are set to Immediately.

eService Received

eService

Notifications regarding the receipt of electronic service on a case where you, or the person you are proxying for, were identified as a service recipient. These notices are also created when the court issues a court order on one of your cases and you are associated to the moving or opposing participant. Due to the importance of document service, the frequency of this notification type is set to 'Immediately' and cannot be changed.

Notice of Court

Court Filing

Court Filing notifications are defined differently based on the corresponding court relationship:

Appellate Court cases - eService-related communications regarding the court orders that are issued on your cases when you are acting in a non-party role (ex. Amicus, Intervenor).

Common Pleas cases - Any courtesy copies of eService notifications related to a document that has been filed by the court on one of your cases.

Case Initiation

Case Initiation notifications are defined differently based on the corresponding court relationship:

Appellate Court cases - Signify any new cases that were filed with the court on paper where you, or the person you are proxying for, are a participant, attorney, or the lower tribunal.

Common Pleas cases - Any courtesy copies of eService notifications related to new case filings that have been docketed by the court on one of your cases. These notifications are not available for the Juvenile docket type.

Party Filing notifications are defined differently based on the corresponding court relationship:

Appellate Court cases - Confirmations from the court that a paper filing has been submitted on one of your cases by another participant.

Common Pleas cases - Any courtesy copies of eService notifications related to filings submitted on one of your existing cases by another case participant or attorney.

Non-Party Filing

Non-Party Filing notifications are defined differently based on the corresponding court relationship:

Appellate Court cases - Confirmations from the court that a paper filing has been submitted on one of your cases by someone in a non-party role (ex. Amicus).

Common Pleas cases - Any courtesy copies of eService notifications related to filings on one of your cases which have been submitted by a filer whose name cannot be systematically determined.

Filing Rejected

Notifications signifying that a PACFiling submitted by another case participant was rejected due to a substantial defect. The filer's only recourse is to submit an entirely new filing that addresses the reasons for the rejection. This notice should serve as a warning that the document(s) delivered via eService was not accepted by the court.

Filing Returned for Correction

Notifications signifying that a PACFiling submitted by another case participant was returned by the court, due to some minor defect, and the filer is being asked to update the filing and resubmit. This notice should serve as a warning that the document(s) delivered via eService was not accepted by the court. These notices only apply to filings submitted to the Courts of Common Pleas.

Correspondence
